Carol Blackman, Silicon Valley

Carol Blackman

Ms. Blackman is a marketing communications specialist. She has extensive experience in marketing communications – in public and media relations, strategic planning, and project development - both in the private and nonprofit sectors.

Previously, she has held business development and executive marketing positions with globally focused organizations.
Her private industry experience includes working in corporate relations and editorial operations for two of the country's largest media conglomerates. As a journalist, she spent more than 14 years with two daily newspapers and she is the author of five nonfiction books.

   
Mary Byron
Mary Byron

Mary Byron is a public relations specialist with over 18 years experience in the areas of project management, event production, meeting planning, protocol, marketing communications and publicity. She served as Director of Public Relations for major hotel companies in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Denver; and Program Manager of the U.S. Department of State's ECA International Leadership Program. Ms. Byron also has a special interest in diplomacy and worked as a Community Liaison Officer at the American Embassy in Cape Town, South Africa.

She coordinates presidential and high level dignitary visits, film festivals, and produces programs and events for official international visitors and corporations as well as consulting on several international Olympic Games. She represents

Nancy Fletcher
Nancy Fletcher served as Vice President of Communications for the California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) for twelve years managing the CMAB's public relations and external communications programs. As spokesperson for the California dairy industry, she helped raise awareness of California's status as the nation's leading dairy state. She directed public relations programs supporting the national expansion of the successful Real California Cheese campaign and was also responsible for all internal communications with California's 2,000 dairy families as well as industry partners.

Fletcher joined the CMAB in l995 and has more than 20 years of experience in public relations, consumer marketing and corporate communications. During her tenure with the CMAB, the California dairy industry's public relations programs have won a number of national awards, including four Silver Anvil awards from the Public Relations Society of America. Her work on the CMAB's successful integrated promotional program was featured in a case study developed by Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and is included in marketing textbooks distributed around the world. In 2006 she was honored by PR News as one of the top five public relations professionals in the nation working in the nonprofit/association sector.

Prior to joining the CMAB, Fletcher spent 10 years with Fleishman-Hillard, an international public relations firm. In her position as senior vice president and director of consumer marketing, she created and managed national programs for many leading companies including Levi Strauss & Co., Ralston Purina, American Honda, Singapore Airlines, MGM Grand Hotel and Circus Circus Enterprises.

She is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minored in Business Administration.

 

 
Stewart Hume, San Francisco
Stewart Hume

Mr. Hume is a graduate of UCLA and the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He has enjoyed a long and successful career in international banking, with Citibank in New York and Brazil, and with Bank of America in San Francisco. In 1987, he became Executive Director of the British-American Chamber of Commerce. Two years later, the famous St. Francis Hotel recruited him to be Director of Community Relations, a position he held for five years.

In recent years, he has served as Executive Director of the British Benevolent Society of California, a foundation that helps British citizens in distress, financial or otherwise. Mr. Hume actively maintains his contacts in the international community. He is a member and past president of the St. Andrews Society of San Francisco and a member of the Jack London Foundation. He is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has appeared in several television commercials. Mr. Hume has had parts in several major films, and in the television series "Nash Bridges".

   
 

 
Hermann-Victor Johnen, Federal Republic of Germany & The Netherlands
Dr. Hermann Johnen

Dr. Johnen studied economics at the Universities of Aachen, Munich and Muenster, majoring in marketing, banking and organization. While living in both Germany and the U.S., he received his doctorate from the University of Muenster, Germany. He brings years of experience in banking and the computer industry in the fields of investment consulting and marketing in Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Latin America and the U.S.

Dr. Johnen is President of JCI International in Aachen, Germany, focusing on European American business development. He is an expert on international culture, history and the arts.
