Second Annual YDC Bowling Tournament

Consular corps colleagues from eighteen countries competed against one another for prizes and trophies in a two game intense competition. Hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner American style and an open bar added to the evening’s festivities. Party favors included new blue YDC t-shirts.

First Place Team – Federal Republic of Germany with 664 points
Second Place Team – Russian Federation with 651 points
Third Place Team – Philippines with 648 points

Top Scorer was Mr. Rusman Samhi from Indonesia with a score of 164 points. He won a “Night on the Town” with cocktails at the “Top of the Mark” and dinner at “Luce”, the Intercontinenal Hotel San Francisco.

Trophies were presented to the winning teams and individual team prizes included AMC movie passes, Starbuck’s coffee gift cards and Visa gift cards.

       

       
Highlights
     
The Chinese team were high scorers and made a valiant showing.
Consul General Georges Schmit with his wife, Mrs. Huguette Wildschulz, Dick Davies and Karine Collet enjoy bowling for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
       
Brazilian team: Rosana da Sa, Norma Ribas, Denise Cunha and Fernando Lopez proudly waive the Brazilian flag.
Press Counselor, The Hon. Hatem KH Helmy surveys his bowling ball as he bids farewell to his consular colleagues. The Egyptian Consulate General has relocated to Los Angeles.
       
Certainly the most attractively attired, members of the Japanese team enjoy cheering for their fellow team members.
Philippine Team Captain, Deputy Consul General Wilfredo C. Santos receives the third place trophy from Acting Honorary YDC Chair Hatem Helmy of Egypt. The Philippines team created special shirts for the evening.
       
It’s “thumbs up” for victory as the Russian team proudly receives their second place trophy. Denis Khromov served as their team captain.
First place winners were the team from the Federal Republic of Germany. The Hon. Michael Ahrens, Consul for Cultural and Press Affairs led his team to victory.
       
Mr. Thane Kuhlman, Director of Food and Beverage for the Intercontinental Hotel, San Francisco presents the “Top Scorer” award to Mr. Rusman Samhi of the Indonesian Consulate General, who was also a top scorer in the 2009 YDC Bowling Tournament.
The Spanish team enthusiastically approaches their bowling game, feeling confident after their country’s recent victories in the World Cup and the Tour de France.
